"Coro dos Amantes" is Tiago Rodrigues' first play. It is a choral piece, a narrative in which a young couple tells, in two voices, the life-or-death situation they are experiencing when one of them can no longer breathe.
The two tell us slightly different versions of the same events, celebrating the vital force of love when everything else is called into question and when we no longer know how to proceed normally. In 2006, Tiago Rodrigues wrote the first part of this play for the show “Urgências”, at Teatro Maria Matos; in 2007 he added two more parts for the show “Duas Metades”, at Culturgest. And in 2021, he wrote the last part, a French version about the passage of time in the lives of lovers, premiered at the Théâtre de Lorient.
After 16 years, Cláudia Gaiolas and Tónan Quito wanted to know what happened to that couple after all these years. How did they go on? Or how did they themselves go on? As if they were questioning themselves through that couple.
