Auto da Barca do Inferno, one of the most famous works by Portuguese writer Gil Vicente, has been adapted countless times for theater plays over the years. Each adaptation brings its own vision of the text, exploring the conflicts and allegories present in the story.

Founded in 1980 in Porto under the name CENA, CTB develops its artistic creation project by balancing between classical and contemporary texts and deepening its experimentation with theatrical practices. It aims to make Braga and the Theatro Circo, where it has been based since 1984, a turning point for artistic confrontation between creators from Europe and the Portuguese-speaking world.
