The result of a transatlantic artistic collaboration between Brazil and Germany, the Bossarenova Trio has, over the course of more than a decade, developed a musical language in which bossa nova engages in a dialogue with jazz, improvisation, classical music, and electronic music.
Paula Morelenbaum’s voice, Joo Kraus’s trumpet, and Ralf Schmid’s piano shape a repertoire that draws on Brazilian tradition to explore new sonic possibilities. They will perform “Levitar,” their latest album, live—an album inspired by the perspective of someone observing Earth from space. The absence of gravity becomes a metaphor for love, distance, and the connection between two people.
