This project is the result of a close collaboration between Duo Contracello and the Lisbon Higher School of Dance, involving students from Prof. Ângelo Cid Neto’s classes. The music for this project will be drawn from the Duo Contracello repertoire, supplemented by a new composition by the Portuguese-Greek composer Dimitris Andrikopoulos, who will work in close interaction with the imagery of movement. An integral part of this project is to offer, on the same occasion, a choreography workshop to a select group of local dance students, dancers, and choreographers. This activity will focus on exploring the intermodal relationship between music and movement. We will stimulate the ability to translate music into other languages—through strategies that may include writing, drawing, and movement itself. A metaphorical insight, a boost to the participants’ imagination that will undoubtedly be reflected in their overall development.
